we have an exciting opportunity for an SPR in Emergency Medicine (relocation benefits available), you’d be joining an NHS Trust committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community to a very high standard. The trust Currently provides a service for over 110,000 annual emergency department (ED) patient attendances.
The Department currently has 4 Resus bays, 4 High care bays, 13 majors cubicles, a separate minors area with 5 consulting rooms. The department has an audio-visually separate paediatric waiting area with 3 paediatric cubicles.
Has a designated Trauma Unit within the BBCHW Trauma Network. It offers PPCI and Vascular Surgery and inpatient ENT and Maxillofacial Surgery and countywide Hyperacute Stroke Service.
has a consistently strong record in delivery of education and training to junior doctors in Emergency Medicine (EM). The ED has recently been successful in a bid for newly commissioned ST3 and ACCS posts to complement our current ST4+ training post as well as piloting the innovative Clinical Educator role.
The Directorate also have a consultant body with experience in supporting the CESR programme.

Main Responsibilities
Clinical
- To offer opinion on the full breath of common and less common presenting conditions to the emergency department in the UK healthcare setting.
- to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Able to lead a resuscitation or trauma team with indirect supervision or support from a senior clinician.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Knowledge in subspecialties e.g. Trauma & Orthopaedics
- To cover a full shift roster in the Emergency Department with a balanced mix of earlies, lates and nights.
- To contribute to the delivery of departmental, trust and national objectives.
Organisational
- To provide support for the effective development of the service.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- To further develop clinical protocols, guidelines, and concise care bundles.
- To carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
- Ability to support the senior doctor in the management a shift in the ED working collaboratively with the nurse-in-charge and the multi-disciplinary team
The Ideal Candidate
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCEM or FRCEM primary and intermediate desirable
- GMC in Process
- At least 2 years of experience must be in Emergency Medicine or a recognised equivalent training or the doctor must be able to demonstrate achievement of the necessary equivalent competencies.
